For the first time, a list of the "Richest" People in Vietnam was published recently from Dai Doan Ket newspaper.
The list is led by Truong Gia Binh, President of the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT Corp.), whose (paper) wealth has more than doubled since the listing of FPT shares in December.
The list looks primarily at public shareholdings in listed companies and overlooks private wealth from real estate and privately held business.
For this reason Dai Doan Ket divided its Vietnamese rich list in two: those who owe their riches to shares in public companies and others engaged in private businesses.
There are undoubtedly many names missing from these lists, but according to Dai Doan Ket, here they are:

This list is very incomplete. Someone should do better.
How about Bitexco, Khai Silk, Huy Hoang, Thai Tuan and others?
Thanh Nien has a few more names to add to the list...
Last year, Tien Phong newspaper reported that a Vietnamese-American living in the US, Tran Dinh Truong, has total assets worth $1 billion and that he is the richest person of Vietnamese origin at present.
It also lists other potential candidates including Vu Van Tien, president of the Hanoi General Import Export Company, Dao Hong Tuyen, owner of Tuan Chau Island in coastal Quang Ninh Province.
Another candidate is Tran Van Cuong, president of the Nam Cuong Trade and Tourism Company, which operates luxury hotels across Vietnam with investments estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.
Then there are business leaders like Dang Le Nguyen Vu, owner of Trung Nguyen Coffee, Vuu Khai Thanh, of Biti’s, Thai Tuan, of Thai Tuan Textile Company, Vo Truong Thanh, of Truong Thanh Wood Processing Company, and Vo Minh Hoai, of Sun Spa Resort in Quang Binh Province.
